WEvolution: Room for diversity & neurodivergent talents

WE Chem International is pleased to announce that the company is supporting the association HerausForderung e.V. in setting up the German Centre for Neurodivergence in Children and Adolescents in Dorsten. As part of this partnership, WE Chem International will become an honorary member and support the project on a monthly and ongoing basis. The project is entitled:

WEvolution: Room for diversity and neurodivergent talents.

Our vision: WE Chem do better - WEvolution. Together we use our strength to shape the future responsibly with our partners.

Uwe Marburger, CEO of WE Chem, explains: "We attach great importance to future-orientated and responsible action as well as ethical principles. WE Chem is committed to making a sustainable contribution, and what could be more sustainable than investing in our future - our children and young people? The WEvolution: Room for Diversity and Neurodivergent Talents project is a significant step in this direction. We want to ensure that every child has the opportunity to realise their full potential."

CEO Volker Windhoevel adds: "At WE Chem, we are convinced that business is done between people. That's why we believe in confidence, performance and partnership. These values are the reason why we support the HerausForderung e.V. initiative. Together with our partners, we want to shape a responsible and sustainable future. We want to ensure that every child and every family has the opportunity to grow and thrive in an inclusive and supportive environment. Humanity and participation are at the centre of everything we do. WEvolution embodies our comprehensive transformation and continuous improvement and growth as well as innovation, daily improvement, reinvention and adaptability."

The German Centre for Neurodivergent Children and Adolescents (Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodivergenz bei Kindern & Jugendlichen, DZNK) with a focus on giftedness, underachievement & temperament in Dorsten is a unique place where neurodivergent children and adolescents receive the support and resources they need to develop their full potential. The centre is run by the non-profit organisation HerausForderung e.V. and offers various programmes and services, including

  • Support and emotion regulation for children & adolescents: Customised services and emotion regulation schools to help children understand and control their emotions.
  •  Education and counselling services: Specialised educational programmes, parent and family counselling as well as individual counselling on topics such as neurodivergence, giftedness, high sensitivity and high reactivity.
  •  Leisure and creative activities: Activities such as play meetings, Gravitrax workshops and teen groups aimed at fostering children's creativity and social skills.
  •  Training for parents and professionals: Courses and training for parents, carers and teachers to better meet the needs of neurodivergent children.

Why HerausForderung e.V. is important

HerausForderung e.V. is committed to promoting and supporting neurodivergent children and young people. This initiative is of crucial importance as it creates a space in which diversity and individual talents are recognised and encouraged. Many families of these children and young people face significant challenges as there is often a lack of specialised services and resources that cater to the individual needs of their children. This gap means that many children and young people do not receive the support they need to realise their full potential. HerausForderung e.V. also criticises the fact that teacher training does not adequately address the needs of neurodivergent children. There is no systematic training on the subject of giftedness and many teachers are not prepared to support these children appropriately. Another major problem is the limited number of specialised schools and programmes for gifted and neurodivergent children in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Inequality and access to resources are also critical issues, as many families do not have the financial resources to make use of private support centres or additional support services. These gaps in the system often leave parents ‘ floating’ and without any support in everyday life. Even teachers often face major challenges, as they are unable to meet the needs of these children without the necessary support and training.

Daniela Kasche, 1st Chairperson of HerausForderung e.V., explains: "We are incredibly grateful for the support of WE Chem International. This partnership enables us to realise the German Centre for Neurodivergence and close a gap in the system. Many families feel left alone in the system and are exposed to stigmatisation, prejudice and exclusion. Promoting potential is not about building elites, but an important element of educational equality and equal opportunities. Together, we can ensure that every child receives the support they deserve."

WE Chem International is proud to be part of this important initiative and we encourage everyone to become active themselves and to stand up for colourful diversity in people's minds, inclusion and participation, tolerance, innovation and humanity. Together, let's live confidence, performance and partnership to shape a better future for neurodivergent children and young people.
