lithium carbonate

Main Applications: Energy (Batteries) – precursor for lithium-ion battery cathode materials and used in battery electrolytes, making it critical in battery production, Glass & Ceramics – serves as a flux to lower melting temperatures and improve the strength of specialty glass and ceramic products. Also used in aluminum processing and cement where it improves product properties.

Lithium carbonate is a key lithium source that can, in many cathode production routes and industrial applications, substitute lithium hydroxide, especially where cost and established processing favour the carbonate form

lithium chloride

CAS: 7447-41-8

LiCl

Main Applications: Air Conditioning/Dehumidification – used as a desiccant in industrial air dryers and HVAC systems due to its strong moisture absorption (helps maintain low humidity), Metal Production (Energy) – employed in electrolytic processes to produce lithium metal and as a component in molten salt batteries/nuclear reactor coolants (specialized applications), Chemical Synthesis – used as a reagent or catalyst in organic synthesis.

Lithium chloride can function as an alternative lithium source that is converted into lithium carbonate or hydroxide in downstream refining for battery-grade and technical applications.

LiOH

Main Applications: Energy (Batteries) – a key raw material for lithium-ion battery cathodes (e.g. in manufacturing lithium cobalt or nickel oxides for high-performance batteries), Lubricating Greases – reacts with fatty acids to produce lithium stearate soaps, which are used as thickening agents in high-temperature, water-resistant grease for automotive and industrial bearings, Air Purification – used in CO₂ scrubbers for submarines, spacecraft, and rebreathers to absorb carbon dioxide (keeping breathing atmospheres safe)
